Sometimes it can be hard to look at an older piece of art and see the good in it. This is an oldie but a goodie in a lot of ways, but all I see when I look at it is the over simplicity, and mediocre font pairings.
I was inspired by a challenge, if I am remembering what the initial idea for the illustration was, and for whatever reason it got me thinking about my favorite song as a child. When I was young I would ask my dad to play “Rainbow Connection” all the time. We had a record of it and it was, as I recall, one of my favorites. Not sure if it was as popular as some of the Disney hits that my own kids dance around to but I certainly loved it.
I give you the background on this piece to hopefully inspire your own creativity. Think back to when you were young, what was that song the one that made your day better? The one that you begged your parents to play on loop every time you got into the car, or before bed. That is the challenge this month, reconnect with that song, track it down and listen to it on loop. Make a piece of text art with your favorite line from the song. Or even snap a photo of something that is connected to it in some way.
I want to try to make this a monthly inspiration for you all. Not sure what theme each month will be but hopefully it will be fun to dip into a well of creativity together and see what kind of inspiration we can find together.
I would also love to see and share all the amazing things you come up with so if you do get inspired to make, create, or do anything along with the music please send it my way and I will share it in the next challenge post. Or use #FailingCreatively and I will keep an eye out on socials (this is inspired by my own art journey and was very much not a # yet on instagram so it will be easy to see all the amazing things you all come up with).
I am looking forward to all of your inspirations, or at least expanding my own musical interests. Have an amazing week.
Thank you so much for joining me on my journey.
