Failing Creatively: The Summer Vacation
Did you ever struggle with all the ups and downs of an end of school year sprint for your kids?
Back again to talk about how I failed for the past two weeks and my hopes going forward for what can be done about improving my creative life 😊.Â
We have reached the end of the school year which as a parent means the dreaded summer vacation with kids around all the time. I should say that I love my children and actually really enjoy spending time with them. That said, what do you do with the kiddos when they are home all day? Where can I squeeze in some work-time? How do you balance the fun activities with the work ones? Do you rely on camps to fill their days or do you encourage their own creativity with boredom?Â
Normally I am a be bored and by extension get creative kind of parent, but my kids are growing and getting their own interests which means more camps that give me a few solid work hours a day. As a freelancer with clients to answer to, that is super important because I still need to deliver for them. Yet as a full time mom too I can’t ignore the little ones.Â
What usually gets sacrificed is the fun projects that I want to do like the drawing videos and tutorials (not that I am super regular with those anyway🙃). With the last few weeks where we finished up, school, soccer, and dance amongst other children related activities it has been even harder to figure out the time to work on them. Not to mention I have been working on cartoons for Gigi & Lulu that I hope to roll out (need to get my voice actors on that 😉). Plus, have ideas and skills I want to start teaching myself, some new art and animation skills that I can use this failing creatively post for.Â
All this just to say thank you for sticking with me while I have some parenting, and life scheduling issues. As we get into summer I do plan to put together more art, animation and video for you all and maybe at some point I will start talking in my YouTube videos 🙃, if I can work ahead enough to share more video and projects.Â
Thank you all for watching along with all my creative failures. It is the failures that help us improve and grow in all aspects of our lives. While I struggle to keep up with all my creative ideas I know every step helps me get better.Â
Till next time keep failing creatively, and see you next week with some good news.Â
Thank you so much for joining me on my journey.
