Failing Creatively ~ First day of School fail
My youngest started school this week and we signed up to ride the bus for the first time.
Starting with art from the archive:
Just sharing some art from my archive. With the new “Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom” coming out near my birthday*, I had to share this really wonky old attempt at the shield. Mostly, because the quote I chose at the time felt super appropriate. My kids and I are anxiously awaiting this gem of a game.
*sorry peeps no exact timeline 😜 ... I am old enough to know not to willingly admit my age
On to my bi-weekly ramble:
My youngest started school this week and we signed up to ride the bus for the first time. In fairness, I never signed up for bus in the past because I figured that we did not live far enough away from the school. Turns out that a major road that separates us from the school means that I could have had my kids on the bus all along. Now my youngest has to ride it alone and was excited and nervous about the prospect.
So what happened you ask, it cannot be that bad, riding the bus is fun. Well, the morning ride went well enough, my husband and I took our Little to the bus and we even got confirmation the besties rode the same bus later in the morning. So at least arriving to school was smooth enough and as far as I was told later in the day. We didn’t run into any issues until it was time for pickup.
My oldest (whose school hasn’t started yet) went with me to the stop to pick up my Little. We got there a good ten minutes prior to the bus arriving, mostly because I already knew my Little was nervous. And we waited, and waited and waited. I even checked in with my Little's friends, and called the school, but it was the first day of school and the driver was learning the new routes we just needed to be patient. Then we see the bus come out of the street I saw it turn down when my Little left for school, and turn away from us towards my Older’s middle school where the school bus depot is.
My little was still on the bus though and now I am really starting to panic and call everyone I can think of to find out how my little gets missed in all this. Was my Little even on the bus? Short answer the Little was on the bus.
About ten minutes after seeing all this happen the bus has looped around the long way and is coming up from behind us to drop off my Little. And there is nothing but tears and exclamations of “I don’t want to ride the bus ever again!” The driver was extremely nice about it and I do not think she will ever forget my Little again. The rest of the week went smoothly and my Little got over the trauma, but it was quite a memorable first day of school to say the least.
With my busy work week this was the most exciting thing that happened so no art rambles this week it did feel like a fail though so appropriately it tied in. However, I did doodle a really bad Princess Peach this week while I was at an outdoor screening of the Mario Movie at our park district.
Till next time keep failing creatively, and see you next week with some good news.
Wait, is this one of those cool yellow school buses I see in American movies? We only have public transportation buses here. Glad to hear your little one has overcome the initial shock though. Must have been terrifying…
If there’s one thing I hated more than anything else, it was riding the bus. I had to ride with the meanest kids ever that loved to pick on me
