Who was your favorite superhero when you were a kid? I always loved Superman, actually so does my husband. While it wasn’t a power of his I would have wanted, I think many a child wanted to be able to see through things growing up because dating back to at least the middle of the 20th century, you could send away for your very own pair of X-ray glasses. In my family, my grandfather used to tell us about how his father worked on a team for the US Army that was working on and developing X-ray technology, which had been discovered by Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen in 1895. I am not sure how true that story is, but it was what he told us, and my great-grandfather did work for the army as a doctor or scientist. Anyway, when the prompt X-ray came up for Inktober, I decided to doodle these glasses out as a quick digital notebook sketch. I hope you all have had a great week with lots of good news, and if not, here are some fun stories for you all to check out.

How global protections are helping sea turtles recover
While we have made massive strides in conservation efforts, and globally, sea turtle populations are growing, there are still species that face significant threats. Also, there are threats in the ocean for turtles to get caught in fishing nets. We can celebrate the win, though, that conservation efforts are clearly benefiting turtle populations.
National park advocates erect 300 billboards nationwide to protest ‘DOGE’s dangerous cuts’
From sea to shining sea, DOGE may be cutting funding, but people always find ways to express their frustration with foolish choices. I love a chance to share a story where creative design sends an important message. We should all make our voices heard; national parks are a valuable asset that is available to all and good for your mental health.
Are Sailing Ships the Future of Sustainable Shipping?
Commercial shipping currently accounts for three percent of global emissions. Companies are working to change that by finding ways to retrofit cargo ships for wind power. They are also building new wind-powered cargo ships to meet shipping demands.
How green hydrogen could end the fossil fuel era
