Starting with some art…
There are always days where we feel like a life jacket or floatation device might help us keep our heads above water. Do me a favor and promise yourself that if you ever need help you will ask someone. As a society we are constantly forgetting that we don’t have to do it all ourselves. There are people who care about us and want us to succeed, and certainly do not want us to burnout or drown in what we take on.
Remember that family and friends are out there for you, and hopefully they have made your week better and more joyful.
Now to the Good News…
France sets a global precedent, guaranteeing abortion as constitutional right
France has become the first country in the world to enshrine a woman’s right to choose into their constitution. Championed by President Macron, they are the only country in the world that felt the need to combat the regression in women’s health rights we are seeing around the world.
How to master the art of small talk
This article was sent to me by a new acquaintance, who stumbled upon this article after we spent the day trying to engage young high schoolers on jobs in graphic arts. We had been talking about how to get them interested in talking and a few days later he stumbled upon this article which speaks about the value of small talk. Personally, I found this one an interesting look on the lost art of small talk and how it helps foster connections. Hopefully, it helps you lovely people to have more interesting conversations with the people who pass through your lives on a day to day basis.
Can Cities Drive SUVs Off Their Streets?
The first time I heard about this initiative it was because France was, for all intents and purposes, increasing parking fees to discourage SUVs and larger vehicles from congesting the city. Now beyond just Paris, there are other French cities following suit and more countries are looking at the model and seeing how they can implement similar ideas. Even Washington DC is upping their own game by becoming the first city in the US that raised registration fees for larger vehicles. This is one great way to reduce deaths in cities as well as reducing pollution and auto congestion in big cities. Hopefully we will see more cities implementing this as a way to promote healthier and safer cities.
