Starting with some art…
Did anyone else have a Betta fish when they were young? With this drawing I decided to play around with homophones. Can you tell I am in the throws of elementary school in my home? I hope you all have had a wonderful week.
Now to the Good News…
Connecticut passes new gun control law: A step towards safety
A state already known for it’s strict gun laws, Connecticut just enacted its strictest new law since the shooting at Sandy Hook in 2013. The new law, prohibits open carry, restricts purchases, has enhanced penalties, requires strict storage regulation, and has provisions for domestic violence. These laws are sure to be challenged by advocates for the second amendment, however, it is wonderful to see states taking gun safety seriously and implementing common sense measures to ensure the safety of all. No one wants to take away peoples guns, we just want common sense restrictions.
New Gallup Poll Finds That Gen Z is a Generation of Optimists
While there is a lot to be concerned about in the world. Gen Z is still overwhelmingly feeling positive about their future and that they will achieve their goals. The data comes to us from a poll conducted by Gallup and the Walton Family Foundation and showed lots of interesting insights into their outlooks. Between the increased positivity for youths with mentors and high goals of Gen Z to obtain higher education they are more determined and optimistic than ever. However, this comes with the caveat of increased mental heath struggles. While there are ups and downs in the world and a long road to travel to make the world better, the fact that this generation is feeling optimistic gives me hope for the future.
Broken Zipper? France Will Pay to Get It Fixed
In France the government is supporting right to repair in a whole new way. They are taking on fast fashion and subsidizing repairing clothing over disposing of it. The government is paying for the repairs using funds from taxing clothing manufacturer’s and retailers from the fashion industry. I do not do a very good job of it but I have been trying to repair over dispose of my own clothes in recent years, and when I cannot repair them anymore I found that my city recycles the clothing. What France is doing is great and I hope many people take advantage of it.
