‘Nature surprises us’: scientists in Brazil rediscover tree thought extinct for nearly 200 years
A small holly tree that has not been seen in over two centuries has been re-discovered in Brazil by Re:wild, a conservation group responsible for the discovery. The Pernambuco Holly made their top 25 most sought after species. They are now planning on setting up a breeding program for the plant to help it grow and spread.

Schools are taking the intersection of math and financial literacy seriously, and it is having positive effects on American youth. To me understanding math and how it can actually be applied to your everyday life is essential to making the subject interesting. I appreciate schools taking this approach because I feel it not only prepares kids adulthood with practical skills, but it also increases interest in a subject that they would otherwise avoid.
Unesco and Interpol launch a revolutionary virtual museum of stolen cultural artifacts
The UN’s cultural authority has joined forces with Interpol to build the world’s first virtual museum dedicated to educating and safeguarding cultural heritage. The museum, set to launch in 2025, has the goal of helping people understand the history of the object as well as repatriate them to their home countries and cultures. It is the only museum in the world where the goal is raise awareness on artifact trafficking and see that their collection dwindles over time. They are determined to use technology to bridge the gap of the treasures and their rightful owners.
